Warlock is an extraordinary class and the perfect choice for those who like areas. Being the mage’s offensive class, you’ll have access to powerful spells, but poor defense spells. Your only means of self-defense is achieved with crowd control spells, meaning that you’ll depend on them.
This class is highly targeted due to its immense power to shift the outcome of a battle. Its trademark spell “Sultar’s Terror” can knock everyone around the targeted person for 8 seconds, but it can be chained with other Terrors to increase the duration. It has the ability to open the way for warriors to charge without being targeted, so it’s always necessary.
Even though you can cover your defense with crowd control spells, it’s always better to be in a group with someone, meaning that good warlock players have to be good teamplayers, at least at start. When you reach level 50 and have some considerable battle experience, you will be able to kill a warrior or even an archer alone. Hunters would be harder to kill, because of how they play, but it’s still possible.
Warlock’s greatest enemy is the Resist Rate. It can turn a warlock’s gameplay boring and frustrating if spells start getting resisted like mad. Resists are time and mana consuming, and since warlocks depend on spells to actually deal damage and control the enemy, one knocking or immobilizing skill resisted may translate into death.
Being a mage subclass, warlocks are slow in movement and have poor defense, so when you see a warrior or archer coming, you know there’s no escape but to fight, so as a warlock, you arent allowed to escape easily. They also have the biggest mana pools, which is necessary since warlock spells are mana expensive.
Few tips for warlocks:
1. Have a lot of mana recovery spells – a warlock without mana is a dead warlock;
2. Keep distance from warriors – their chain knocks may cause your death.
3. Dont panic when a hunter attacks you out of Camouflage – kill the pet in the first place by immobilizing and dealing damage, and only then Dizzy the hunter and try to suck all of his mana; use Darkness in order to not letting him escape with self buffs.
4. Dont cast spells on archers under Son of the Wind… unless you have some spare mana you wont mind to lose. Otherwise, wait for it to end instead of wasting precious mana.
5. Crowd Control spells are your friends – Mental discipline is great, as it has a lot of these. Have it on at least lvl 11 and use such spells as Pricking Ivy, Will Domain in order to keep enemies at bay or preventing them from escaping.
6. Dont rush like a mad man – your low defense and poor escaping skills dont allow you to get back alive.
7. Use health-leeching skills – as it’s a good solution to cover your lack of defense.
How attributes affect you
Intelligence: more mana, mana regen, spell resist rate, spell focus – very important;
Concentration: spell focus (it’s a broken stat, so it’s up to you to add some points or not)
Constitution: increases health and health regen – good health bonus are always a great acquisition.
